Dan explained to Jozie about the New Years and the ball dropping in New York. She is now set on going to New York and watching the ball drop. I told her that we are just going to watch it here in the house because New York is alittle far for us to be driving tonight, and she is not happy about it. She really wants a New Years party. So it is 8:45pm and we are leaving to go to Kmart to get "party supplies" for our New Years party at our house... with just Jozie and I. Look for pictures to come.

Update: We had a blast on New Years. K-mart sucks for supplies. But we bought clappers and construction paper and with the help of nickjr.com made hats and pipe cleaner fireworks. See the fun below! Also, after we said Happy News Years, I started cleaning up and Jozie said "what's next for the party?" I had to disappoint her and tell her that was it.... she was not impressed. Maybe she will just sleep through next year.

3 going on 16

Jo and I were driving to the mall today and there were two men on motorcycles next to us at the stop light. I noticed that Jozie had stopped talking and when I looked back she was waving and giggling at these two guys! They weren't even looking at her. I asked her "are you waving to those two guys?" and she answered "Yes, I like their motorcycles and helmets. They have skulls on them!" Awww great.... Finally they turned around and noticed her and smiled and waved. She then was all caught up in seeing where they went after the light turned green. They had left us in the dust of course. When did she start liking boys? I need to make sure the girls club is still alive and well!

Grades

Jo got her report card and she seems to be doing well. She mainly got satisfactory and a few excellents. There are some stuff she has to work on, like knowing our address, phone number, and 911. Some other things, I think have to do more with her being really quiet in class. Like one of the things she has to work on is class participation. She is so quiet in class. Little by little she is coming out of her shell, but she is so scared of getting pennies taken away and not getting to go in the treasure box that she doesn't want to ever be loud in class. Good for the teacher, but then it just seems that she is extra introverted. Oh well... it will all work out in the end.

One of the things I have been afraid of is that due to her being quiet (and tiny) the other kids would treat her like a doll baby and she wouldn't learn to do things on her own. I know somebody who's daughter is now in 2/3rd grade and had that issue when she was in preschool and now has issues with her daughter not even being able to complete tests in the time frame allotted. So one of the good things that came out of the parent / teacher conference was that Mrs. V said that another little girl was hovering over Jozie and doing things like pulling chairs out for her and helping her walk around (the other little girl is big for a preschooler, in my opinion) and was basically treating Jozie like a doll. Mrs V saw this and then told the other little girl to leave Jozie alone, that she was big enough to do things on her own. I was glad to hear that her teacher is aware that this can happen and making sure it doesn't. Yay for great schools and wonderful teachers!

Last night there was a trailer for the Chimpunks movie (the Squeakwal) and the little chipettes were singing "Single Ladies". Jo decided to make up her own version:

If you like it then you shoulda put a "insert anything she sees here" on it.

So we had...

If you like it then you shoulda put a marshmellow on it
If you like it then you shoulda put a cup on it
If you like it then you shoulda put soup on it

oh oh oh oh oh oh.... there was also a bowl, a couch, a bed, a crown, etc.

Jozie was playing "cook" with my grandma, mom and I. We all had to take turns "making" food for each other. Jozie finally told my mom that she would have to be the waiter. My mom didn't seem excited about serving everybody else until Jozie said "Grandma you be the waiter. You sit down and wait over there and I will get you food." Yep, the waiter just waits to be served :-)

I bought a pattern to make dresses for Jo and I finally finished one of the two dresses. I put it on her and... it's too big!!! uggggghhhhh!!!! I guess I will just take it in a bit on the sides, but what a pain after working on it (albeit on and off) for like 2 weeks now! My daughter is too skinny.

Jozie's school had their annual Fall Festival and we had a blast!!! Jozie was so excited to dress up in western wear to school and then to hang out afterwards and watch hula hoop competitions (I was so jealous of these little girls), get her face painted and "milk a cow"! Ok so the last one was just a game and not a real cow or milk... but it was still funny. Here is just one picture of Jozie getting ready for the day!

Jozie wished on a dandelion that she would get a baby sister. She needs to start wishing for money... that would help with getting a baby sister!

The Girl Club

Today Jozie told me that she is in the "All Girl Club". And Ava (a girl in her school) is in the all girl club. Oh and I'm in the club. Another little girl, Carys, does not want to be in the club. When I asked her why, she said "I don't know. I'm trying to find out". She then proceeded to say "Up to Girls, Down to Boys". This club will definitely not allow in papa.

2 things that happened in a matter of 10 minutes:

I was covering a bra for a costume a Jozie walked up to me and said "Mommy, why are you putting fabric on that boobie cover? What is that thing called?" I was laughing so hard I was almost in tears.

Then she comes back into the room and says "Mommy, I'm going to show you my butt", then she proceeded to turn around and moon me!!! I was mooned by my 3 year old!!!

Oh yes and she has started pulling up her shirt and flashing me. I'm glad my child is so... shy.

My mom took Jozie to go see If You Give a Cat a Cupcake (a book turned play locally).

Listen in to what Jozie thought of it in this review:

Flu Shot

Dan and Jozie went to CVS and got their flu shots yesterday. They got stickers (which both of them had to wear) that said that they got their shots. Jozie was showing it to me and then asked what the flu shot was. I was explaining that the shot was to keep her healthy and prevent her from getting the flu. She then asked what the flu was, so I began explaining it to her and telling her how Mary has the flu and she is very sick. Jozie said "We should get her pizza and bring it to her house to make her feel better!" Aww yes, the all curing pizza... loves it!

Dan said that Jozie sang this song to him (think sing songy like "5 little monkeys jumping on the bed").

5 Little Babies jumping in the water, then actually a sudden 1 jumped out and then there were 4
4 Little Babies jumping in the water, then actually a sudden 1 jumped out and then there were 3
3 Little Babies jumping in the water, then actually a sudden 1 jumped out and then there were 2
2 Little Babies jumping in the water, then actually a sudden 1 jumped out and then there were 1
1 Little Baby sad in the water, he jumped out
Then there were no babies in the world!

Is it Love?

Not if you ask Jozie. She always tells us that she does not like boys. She only likes the girls. The other day she was the only girl in her class and she still wouldn't play with any of the boys. The feeling is not mutual. She told us that 2 boys (Max and Daniel) have both told her that they LOVE her!!! She does not love them. This is all to much for me to handle...

There are these toys called Zhu Zhu Pets. They are basically toy hamsters. Jozie is CRAZY about them. They are selling out everywhere all the time. I found some blanket / bed / purse accessories a month ago and I grabbed them all. Dan found part of the hamsters living space yesterday and got it. My mom left her phone number with Toys R Us and got a call today and picked up 4 of the pets! They really are cute, but when they first started moving around, Jozie jumped up on the couch. In fact she will only play with them when they are in their little house thing. Looks like we need to try and get more pieces to that house.

Podcast Envy

Dan has his multiple podcasts and I have my podcast that gets recorded on a weekly basis in our house. The other day Jozie informed us that she also has a podcast. Her podcast is about animals. We'll have to link it up when she starts recording.

Today, Jozie enlightened us as to why Papa (my dad) is not in "the club". He doesn't have any hair. Only people with hair are in the club. Poor Papa...

I'm beginning to think my daughter will be the next Dr. G : Medical Examiner. If you don't know who Dr. G is, she is on Discovery Health and she is a local medical examiner. Her show consists of different autopsy cases and how these people died.

My daughter has always seemed to be fascinated with death. When I mean always, I mean that by the time she was 18 months old she would tell me, "mom, butterfly no move. butterfly dead." Stating it very factually. No sad child-like emotion. Just a very, it is what it is matter of factness. When our dog Torrance passed away a little over a year ago (putting Jo at 2.5) she wanted to know everything about it. What happened to him? Where was he? When we explained he was cremated (and explained what that was) she needed to see the ashes. She wanted to see them everyday. She told us fairly regularly (and also other people) that he was now "small and in a box". Again, no emotion behind it, just matter of fact.

We have not had anything die recently (thankfully of course), so now I find out that 2 days ago she told Dan, "I had a gold fish, he's dead now. My friend the munster had a gold fish, he's dead now too".

And then there's this picture from her picture blog. Seems innocent enough, except, see those two dinosaurs on the right of the picture lying down? Yep... they are sleeping alright... in death. She told Dan they are dead.

She is completely fascinated.... soooooooo I am just thinking positively and thinking that she will grow up to be a medical examiner and it will be useful that she is non-emotional about dead things.

A New Song

As we were getting ready to go bed, Jozie began singing to me.

First you wiggle your ears (she then took her hand and wiggled her ear)
Then you wiggle your hair (she lifted her hair up and shook it around)
Then you wiggle your hands (she then began rolling her hands around each other)
Then you wiggle your feet (she did a little jig)
And that's how you do the Shake!

Then she told me "Mommy, I made up that song AND dance all by myself". I told her how impressed I was and then she said, "well I saw it on a commercial at my friend the munster's house".... awww the truth comes out.... :-)

Jozie will start school 5 days a week starting October 1st. She is so excited. I hope all goes well. I was just as nervous when she started school 3 days a week in August. I'm sure it will be fine. We could not have found a better school and she loves it and her teacher. We'll see how it goes!

Overheard...

As she bobbed her head back and forth:

My name is Dan and I'm on Rick Podcast

Jozie Drawing

Ok, I know I'm a mom so I'm bias.  I have to be, right?  But seriously... Jozie is an amazing artist.  Here is her picture of Gary (the snail from Spongebob Squarepants aka her favorite show).  I can actually tell what it is that she drew!!!

In her school, to teach them their letters, the teacher does all letters in yellow highlighter or marker and the kids write over them, so the yellow is me, the crayon is Jozie :-)

Update on EJ

So, when I went to drop Jo off today, I asked her teacher if EJ was 5 days a week, Mon/Wed/Fri, or Tue/Thur. EJ is only there T/T. Jo is only there M/W/F.... sooooo she's never even met EJ. Her teacher says that they basically talk about all their "friends in class" so she knows ABOUT him, but that's it... sooo my guess is she saw two letters she recognized, realized it was somebody's name and thought it was be cool to write the name. Crisis averted.

Thursday, September 3, 2009

Uh Oh...

Jozie just had me help her write down on a piece of paper the name of a fellow student...

HIS name is EJ. I don't know this EJ fellow, but his name is now going to be hung on our refrigerator (Per Jozie's request.)

Umm... I am not liking this one bit! We better go to bed before she has a chance to write down the names of any other boys in her class...

into the "club" that is.

According to my parents, Jozie once again kicked her papa (her grandpa) out of the club, but invited the waitress at the restaurant where they were eating into the club. Good service goes a looooonnnngg way in Jozie's world.

Jozie told Dan this yesterday

Panties are useless and are for children

I don't know what that was about, but I thought it was funny

Also, as told by my brother Mikey after viewing Jozie's first day of school pics online

Great, I check out this site to see pictures of Jozie's first day.. and my boss now wonders about me because I had pictures of an extremely young child in a school girl outfit on my screen.

Hope he didn't get into to much trouble! :-)

Jozie is ALLLLL about school. So much so that on Monday and Wednesday she has teared up when Dan goes to pick her up!!! ugh... seriously... they are going to think something bad is going on at home!!! She is just to happy to be in school!

Here are some pictures:

Jozie has been drawing pictures... alot... so much so that she actually creates books that she reads to us.  I wrote down the story she told me last night before bed.  "Bear" with me as it was hard to keep up with her, my writing is sloppy, and so some things may or may not be included.

The baby bear and the mommy bear were hunting through the woods and going to find their home and find toys because baby bear likes toys.  Baby bear got an airplane squirter and squirted Daddy bear, mommy bear, baby brother, baby sister but most of all herself!

Then somebody was in a hot air balloon.  They were friends together.  They went into the Asian Forest which is big and purple (hey I didn't make this story up!).  The bears were going to the bear forest.  Then they got the baby bear his pool floaty, which is always in the tree (and there is a drawing of a floaty in a tree... no joke).  Then they went to sit on a big rock with feet, even though rocks don't have feet.

Then the people were stuck in the mud (she pointed out that she mixed yellow and brown together for mud).  Then the people got unstuck and they looked at their book.  Then they got into their hot air balloon because the other one was purple, but they didn't want it.  They wanted to go into the blue one.  They were all squiggly together, so they looked in the squiggly mirror.  Then they wanted to win the race so they got a flag and won the race.

They they saw a purple ant (at this point she had, what I thought was, a blank piece of paper, but no, she had a small little purple ant on it!)

Then the daddy bear was asleep and he said "I'm going to do it" and the baby bear wanted something to eat.  They woke up in the morning (pic of daddy bear with sharp teeth) and then they had something for dessert and woke up. (again apparently)

Then they go to the slide at school and it was red.  And then the baby bear and the daddy bear went to the baby bears school and went on the slide.  They went on the bridge and then they were getting some fish.

The end

Ok, so while the story didn't make much sense (I guess that's a bit harsh for a 3 year old) she literally took all these drawing she had, picked them all up (so they were not in any order) and then just made up a story to go with the picture.  Not bad in my opinion.  :-)

Homework Time

She had one day of school and already has homework! We had to sit down with her and ask her questions about herself (what is her name, what does she like to be called, favorite food, etc).

One question asked "When my parents are upset with me they...". She said, "kick me or punch me in the face". I wish I were joking. We decided to write down, "put me in time out".

Another question was "I get upset when..." her answer was "people beat me up and kick me". Seriously... we decided to put "when I don't get to do what I want to do".

I hope her teacher doesn't ask her the questions and just takes our written word for it... CPS will be at our door.

New Joke

Jozie usually tells us the chicken crossing the road joke, but today she told Dan a new one...

What do you call a bear that is not wearing socks?

Barefoot

She said she got it from her friend the munster....

Saturday, August 15, 2009

My mom called me tonight and told me the following story about Jozie.

After dinner we went to Target and there was this "littlest pet shop" toy and Jozie wanted it.  They of course put things at Jozie's eye level.  So I bought it for her.  In the car she said "Grandma, I'm so lucky.  I get everything I ask for."

This made me laugh, because as she is at her grandparents house, Dan and I are cleaning out all her toys and she will come home to only two boxes of toys... believe me this is a huge drop in the amount of toys at our house.  I don't think that this is what she asked for.

Jozie hasn't even started school yet and we already have stories! We got to go and meet her teacher yesterday and every time somebody went to talk to her, my daughter, placed a hand over her nose and mouth and started snorting. Why do I have the strange child?

She got to meet some of the other kids in her class and we got to meet some of the other parents. We can even see the personalities of some of them from just watching them play. I saw the bossy girl, the outgoing girl, the tiny quiet one, the shy one, and my daughter... the strange one. There are also 4 little boys in the class, but i didn't get to see as much of them. The parents we met seem cool enough. I'm excited, and scared, for this new chapter in our little family's life.

Interesting fact.  We have somebody named Bob that lives in our house.  He goes around and shuts off all the lights.  Whenever we go into a room that is dark, Jozie says "Oh Bob must have turned off the lights again!" Thanks Bob for helping us save money on our electric bill.

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

Last night I was informed that the "Bad Jozie" (the green one) also has green eyes.  Not only that, but she has a mean grandma and papa (grandpa).  She doesn't know what makes them mean, much like the parents.  But bad jozie also has 3 sisters.  All of their names are Jozie.  But the 3 sisters are NICE and Good! They are not all Bad Jozie's! And the Good Jozie's play with her.

Don't know how the conversation started, but we were explaining to Jozie that a chicken nugget is a chicken and she doesn't believe us... we ask her, then were would a "chicken" nugget come from?  She doesn't know but it's not a chicken.  Her next favorite food is beef patty.  She asked where that came from.  We told her a cow.  "No it doesn't ".  ummm... ok, if you don't like the answer, don't ask!  She doesn't believe that people eat animals.  She will understand one day.  Or become a vegetarian :-)  But then i have to explain that carrots cry when you chop them up and cook them... aww... i'm such a mean mother...

Friday, July 31, 2009

So I hadn't posted about it yet, but Jozie has an exclusive club.  You are a member if she says you're a member and she reserves the right to kick you out at anytime.  I'm a horrible mother and threaten to withhold my love when I get kicked out.  She usually lets me back in.

She has even kicked her own grandparents out of the club!  Well today she kicked Dan out of the club.  She said because he was playing music in the club.  Apparently it's some kind of quiet library club... no loud noises allowed.  She told me he was back in the club though... what a fickle pickle my little pumpkin is.

It's... Jozie

So I'm not sure what all happened.  But as I was talking to dan on the phone on my way home from work, Jozie wanted him to video tape her.  So i overheard bits and pieces.... there was something about "bad jozie" and that she looked like her except she was all green, her hair was purple and her hands were yellow.  She also had bad parents.  But she wasn't sure what made them bad.

Also in this conversation Jozie said that she did not like the last name Ginader.  She also did not like the middle name Layne.  So she just wanted to be called Jozie.  Just Jozie.  Dan told her that she would get use to the last name.  Hopefully when dan loads the video, i will link it here.  I can't wait to watch it myself... real life craziness... oh boy!

Froggy Prince

This story was told to us by Jozie on the drive home tonight:

"There was this giant froggy and he was playing with his giant friends.  His name was Quince.  Quince the frog had a magic wand and they all turned themselves into giant princes! (and if you didn't catch that... his name is now Prince Quince...lol) The evil witch turned them into frogs but they had a magic wand.  They went and "finded" the witch and turned her into a frog with their wand so that she can't turn them into frogs.  They hopped to the castle.  I mean they fly to the castle.  Since they are princes.  Oh wait!  They can't go into the castle because it's too small.  They are giants.  They turn a ghost into a frog"

Yes... it actually has a storyline... kind of.  But then at the end it seemed that the princes got a little magic wand crazy because they started turning everybody into frogs.

Friday, July 24, 2009

This morning Jozie was up at 7am!  What a wild lady!  Anyways, in the few minutes I was home with her she said that Willow was a superhero, Oz was a baby goat, and her friend the Munster was a daddy goat.  Couget was the wizard.  No clue what they were all doing... but yeah.  Very random.  Like normal :-)

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Today Jozie told Dan that the Bad Guys are going to use their magic wand to turn her friend the Munster's car into wood!  Yeah... not sure where she got that one from...

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

So I'm starting this blog because my daughter has a crazy imagination.  I'm sure every 3 year old has a vivid imagination, but I want to keep up with hers so I can hold it over her head during those tough teenage years...

Anywho, so backstory:
  • Her best friend is "my friend the Munster".  She told me today that he is also her brother (she has been wanting a sibling for a while... but no money means no other kids right now).
  • Her friend the Munster's kid, has since evolved into a dog (a beagle to be exact) named Couget (coo-get).
  • There is also the "man who doesn't like music" who she did not like and did not want to have anything to do with until a few weeks ago... now they are friends.
  • There is the "bad guys".  They clean her room so I would like them around more often.  She is also friends with them.
  • At one point she had "bad Jozie" who use to do all the bad things in the house, but Dan kicked her out (after our Jozie punched her in the nose).  She has also had "the other me" who also does bad things, but she's been warned that she could easily be kicked out too.
So anyways, every night we read a chapter in the Lemony Snicket books (we are on book 8!) and in this book the children are hiding in a Hospital and they have to try and save the eldest from having her head surgically removed.  I think these books are fantastic, but I think Jozie pays way more attention then I realized.

Tonight she said that the "bad guys" did not like "the man who doesn't like music" and that they were going to chop off his head!!!  ooops.... so I had to explain that this isn't a very nice thing to do and that she should try and help solve their problems and not let them chop any heads off... she said she would talk to them.  So yeah... large imagination and no help from mom in the books I'm reading to her.
